I Think That's a Stretch...

Cindy Sheehan says that Nancy Pelosi "supports" President Bush.

First: Pelosi hasn't "supported" President Bush nearly as much as the Republicans in Congress have.

Second: The two examples Sheehan cite also included some other prominent Democratic support/votes.

Third: I hope Sheehan doesn't think that by beating Pelosi, she would become Speaker of the House.

Here are some of the ways that Pelosi has supported the Bush Agenda.

- Funding the Iraq War

- Pushing through the bailout

- Sabotaging ENDA

- Sabotaging hate crimes legislation

- Pushing through corporate controlled trade agreements

- Withdrawing a resolution condemning the Armenian genocide

- Supporting the Bush "stimulus package" which did nothing to stimulate the economy, but which gave rich people more money they could use to inflate the stock market before the crash

I still don't see how her support is any different than other prominent Democrats. And I certainly don't think it's on par with John McCain. I just it's misleading to imply that Pelosi's stances and votes are virtually like a Republicans'.

I think the only Democrats (in both the House or Senate) who didn't vote for any of what you mentioned were Sen. Feingold and Rep. Kucinich, but I'll have to double-check.

If I were Sheehan, I'd just stick to the fact that Pelosi took impeachment "off the table." That's indisputable, and would resonate better with more voters.
