Why was criticism of Sarah Palin's ability to be Vice President of the United States sexist, yet criticism of Sonia Sotomayor's ability to be a Supreme Court Justice fair game?

Silly Liberal, because it's Republicans doing the criticizing this time. Think of them like wives or girlfriends, and suddenly the double standard makes perfect sense.
Or is that a sexist comment?
You have to preface your statement with, "This may sound sexist" for it to even appear to be sexist nowadays.
I know this because a Republican told me so.
