Didnt know that about newspapers in europe, etc. Helps explain why Murdoch isnt so rabid in England as he is here, perhaps?

On the other hand, Glenn Beck is losing ads right and left, and yet still has a (unfortunately, highly rated) show. Is that because advertisers leave show, but not network, and so make winking sign of approval, or because Rupert sees Beck as a means of increasing the power of his empire?

Dave,

With Beck's show it's not just the number of sponsors, but the amount of money he's getting from them. I'm guessing that it's more of the household names, as opposed to the big money sponsors, who have left so far.

Still, it's connected to what Moore was saying before: Murdock has a niche (crazy right-wing viewers) and he knows that people like Beck will keep them watching FoxNews, so why bother with trying to get liberals or moderates when he has a sure thing?
I think maybe the problem with Faux is not that it is a right-wing propaganda machine, but that other news outlets and pundits treat it as if it were a legitimate source of information. It, and everything connected with it, should be given the same level of respect by "legitimate" news providers as the Entertainment Channel, and mentioned by them with the same frequency.
