General Petraeus (who conservatives LOVED back when G.W. Bush was president) and Glenn Beck (who conservatives LOVED back when he was on FoxNews) have both taken stances on Iraq that don't fit with their conservative-created caricature. For the former general, he pretty much says that if Iraq has become a nation-wide version of the Hatfields and the McCoys, we should stay out of it . Beck, meanwhile, is giving what best can be described as a mea culpa : "From the beginning, most people on the left were against going into Iraq. I wasn’t.... Liberals, you were right. We shouldn’t have." What's next: Dick Cheney donating money to orphans of both sides of the last war? 

But that's nothing new . I am so glad he'll be off the air (for now, at least).

And now it's for some kind of quasi-religious field trip . Why do people take this poor excuse for a Batman villain seriously? Then again ...

Odds are if you don't believe any of this, you're part of the conspiracy.

When Beck isn't swindling small crowds of old white people , he's doing the old " cut, paraphrase and paste " technique that many a graduate student should be familiar with. Granted, he's doing this to a piece of work with the premise of "Hitler was a vegetarian so in conclusion all liberals are fascists," but still.

Someone had to do it .

The question isn't really how many people attended, but rather how many people who didn't support Beck, the conservative movement or Republicans in general attended . Seriously: how many people who were Obama-voters, progressives and/or Democrats who changed their minds (and didn't just attend to observe and/or mock the event) showed up? Because otherwise, you can just say a portion of Beck's TV/radio audience took a field trip.
