 Apparently Nancy Pelosi is still upset about what happened on 1/6/21: “I'll never forgive president — former president of the United States and his lackeys and his bullies that he sent to the Capitol for the trauma that he — that wasn't what was exerted on our staff. These are young, largely younger people who come with the idealism to work in the Capitol on either side of the aisle and whatever it is. And for us to sign up for this when we run for office, it's bad enough for our families to see the danger we're in.” Keep in mind Pelosi didn't seem that upset with Trump when Congress approved his Pentagon budget .  In fact, how many times did Pelosi lead the charge to stymie Trump's legislative agenda. I mean, as Speaker and one of the leaders of the Democratic Party, she could have actively made every day of Trump's presidency a living nightmare.  She could have.

 #ForceTheVote may not have gotten a vote on Medicare For All in the House, or even manage to put the fear of God in Nancy Pelosi , but it did accomplish one important thing: it exposed who on the Left is really for left-leaning policies, and who's just giving lip service for money, fame, influence and access.  Way back in November of 2019 , I commented on how letting TYT slide on things other media outlets were doing was putting the Left into a bind. I pointed out the "TYT/Cenk Uygur Problem" again when Uygur was getting attacked during his congressional run , when Uygur said that he was "rooting" for Neera Tanden, and when TYT started their anti-#ForceTheVote campaign .  To be honest, I was worried that Jimmy Dore and Kyle Kulinski would throw themselves on the proverbial grenade to defend their old friend/colleague. You would think that, considering the way Donald Trump went after Barack Obama for a "long-form birth certificate" after Obama provided more proof then he should have, Trump would know the difference between a transcript and a memo .  Impeachment will not remove Trump from the White House, you'd need the (GOP-controlled) Senate for that. Once Trump realizes that impeachment won't force him out, he will go hard into "Witch Hunt" mode. That being said, the only benefit of the proceedings to to test Trump's ability to fight political battles on two fronts: the House Democrats looking to impeach and one front, and the Democratic nominee on the other.  This spectacle is yet another distraction for the Democrats, who still refuse to examine why/how they lost in 2016. Nancy Pelosi has benefited from social media. It's safe to say that site like Daily Kos was a factor in her becoming Speaker of the House during the Bush Administration; in fact, the two entities are very simpatico. Well, Pelosi is once again Speaker, but the political landscape has changed. The anti-war (in Iraq and Afghanistan, specifically) crowd has evolved to a non-interventionist movement. Black people who saw Bush's indifference to Hurricane Katrina started talking about police brutality. Those struggling to makes ends meet have watched in astonishment as Democrats and Republicans in Congress joined Bush to bail out the banks, or shuddered as President Obama not only gave some of the Wall Street watchdogs promotions while Occupy Wall Street protesters where being pepper-sprayed and have now begun to embrace universal healthcare, a $15.00 minimum wage and student loan forgiveness.  The Real Base of the Democratic Party has moved left since Pelosi's first stint as...

Some Democrats seem to be cheerleading Nancy Pelosi for her kinda filibuster (The House of Representatives cannot technically do this, but it still happened) in the wee hours. Some would call her underrated .  I would say that she is someone who never got around to having that debate for a "better deal" that she claimed to care about . Someone who, when she became Speaker, said that impeachment of then-President George W. Bush was "off the table." Someone who lamented that Mitt Romney was not POTUS . Someone who gave the current POTUS more spying powers . Someone who declares the bill she kinda filibustered something " good for Democrats ."  BTW, the people who she was supposedly fighting for weren't impressed . 

Nancy Pelosi is a fundraiser for the Democrats, and a darn good one . But considering that Hillary Clinton raised more money than Donald Trump and still lost the election, we should not equate "raising a lot of cash" with "winning elections." Yet, t hat is what appears to be happening . Wining elections will come when the Democrats show that they are fighting in Congress. The best (but not only) way to do this is introduce legislation that gives words and life to their message and values. I know, "What's the point if it doesn't pass in a GOP-controlled Congress?" The point is that: There is a record that Democrats advocated something; It could garnish enough attention to give them on TV, where that can control the narrative; They can go after Republicans for repeatedly shooting down their attempts to improve the lives of millions of Americans. Earlier this week I was greeted by an email (that everyone who signs up with his list receives) from Senator Chuck Schumer. It goes like this: I'm going to say something you might not have heard from many Democrats in the past few months: I'm feeling good. Recently, while I watched the Kansas House election, I was reminded of just how fired up Democrats are at this point in time. In a state that President Trump overwhelmingly won (by 31 points), I watched as James Thompson -- a populist Democrat -- organized a movement to take back his state. In the end, the Republican candidate squeaked by only after everyone from Donald Trump to Mike Pence and Ted Cruz had to help campaign. This is huge. We can't ignore it. Democrats are, in the words of Brooklyn resident Beyoncé, getting in formation. We are pushing back and we have the GOP back on their heels. We are showing our fight -- and I don't expect it to stop. She just undercut Maxine Waters , one of the few Democrats who came close to mimicking this so-called "resistance" to President Trump's more dangerous policies. Now, has Trump done anything to warrant impeachment? In a world where Bill Clinton was impeached because he lied about oral sex, I really can't be sure myself. But to take that weapon out of the picture, much like she did when the Democrats regained Congress under the Bush Administration, handicaps the Democrats.
