Is America Facing Another Economic Bubble?

Quote of the Day (Or, Why Does The Us Want To Attack Venezuela?)

Image
The petrodollar system. Without (at minimum) economic war on Venezuela, the US dollar would collapse. Venezuela has more oil than any country on earth. But it’s not simply that the US wants that oil. If that were the case, they would make a deal with Maduro, which he offered if the US would end the belligerence. In order for the US to print endless money (for things like our a trillion-dollar-a-year death machine), the US dollar needs to remain the global reserve currency. And for that to happen, it needs the petrodollar to remain strong. And for that to happen, fossil fuels around the world must continue to be bought and sold in US dollars. If VZ were to be allowed full output of its massive oil reserves, much (if not all) would be sold in other currencies. This would greatly harm the petrodollar. It would also make Venezuela, a socialist country, one of the richest and most powerful countries on earth. -- Lee Camp explaining America's motives (and revealing the New York Times...

A Pentagon Policy So Unpalatable That Fox News and Newsmax Reject It.

Via the Associated Press : News organizations including The New York Times, The Associated Press and the conservative Newsmax television network said Monday they will not sign a Defense Department document about its new press rules, making it likely the Trump administration will evict their reporters from the Pentagon. Those outlets say the policy threatens to punish them for routine news gathering protected by the First Amendment. The Washington Post, The Atlantic and Reuters on Monday also publicly joined the group that says it will not be signing. AP confirmed Monday afternoon that it would not sign. “Reuters is bound by its commitment to accurate, impartial and independent news,” the agency said in a statement. “We also steadfastly believe in the press protections afforded by the U.S. Constitution, the unrestricted flow of information and journalism that serves the public interest without fear or favor. The Pentagon’s new restrictions erode these fundamental values.” Defense S...

"Trump Truce" Rings Hollow

Image
Or maybe call it the "Zionist Ceasefire Gambit." Either way, Tehran experienced attacks and Israel is claiming Iran is in violation as President Trump lashes out at both sides .  As Israel's treatment of Lebanon , Syria , and Yemen has shown us, treaties with the United States and their allies/proxies can only be violated by the other party, never them. And if they do violate it, there's always a valid reason. The New Atlas explains: Remember, the endgame is to take out Iran, Russia and China:

The Intercept: New York Times Memo Reveals What Journalists Aren't Allowed To Talk About

The newspaper that went after Harvey Weinstein crumbles in the face of AIPAC and Benjamin Netanyahu: THE NEW YORK TIMES instructed journalists covering Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip to restrict the use of the terms “genocide” and “ethnic cleansing” and to “avoid” using the phrase “occupied territory” when describing Palestinian land, according to a copy of an internal memo obtained by The Intercept. The memo also instructs reporters not to use the word Palestine “except in very rare cases” and to steer clear of the term “refugee camps” to describe areas of Gaza historically settled by displaced Palestinians expelled from other parts of Palestine during previous Israeli–Arab wars. The areas are recognized by the United Nations as refugee camps and house hundreds of thousands of registered refugees. The memo — written by Times standards editor Susan Wessling, international editor Philip Pan, and their deputies — “offers guidance about some terms and other issues we have grappled w...
