It's a story with the names of the characters, and some of the major scenes, but the underlying narrative simply isn't the story of Superman. It's about a guy with an asshole father who got stuck in a podunk town and casually betrayed by every friend he made, including a superhuman who professed to be his best friend but constantly doubted him behind his back and lied to him to his face. When the show embraced that and stopped pretending it was about Superman, that was when the show was it its best. The themes it trades in aren't the themes of the Superman myth. It's about secrets and betrayals and f*** you dad. When the show lost its protagonist, Lex, then it became an empty shell that traded on rote pandering towards fans of scenes and characters we all recognize from other media. -- David Uzumeri, summarizing Smallville for us all. Interesting. If you're trying to figure out the plot of director Zack Snyder's " Superman " reboot, don't look at the Man of Steel's previous cinematic endeavors for any clues. Likewise, there are no breadcrumbs to follow in the character's considerable comic book run. In fact, there's really no where to look except for the minds of those who have worked on the script. Alrighty then. No one tell Oliver until they start filming , M'-kay?

Warner Bros. is playing hardball in order to keep Superman .

This post pretty much sums up my feelings regarding "Smallville:" the producers desire to keep Clark Kent out of the Superman suit has rendered the show barely watchable. And this is from someone who claimed to have watched just one recent episode; I've watched the damn thing off-and-on for about 4&1/2 seasons. And every year they do something like this: tease you with an episode that makes you think, Finally, we're going to see the Man of Steel ! But what happens instead is what always happens: they take one step forward and two steps back. I mean, the way they've jerked her character around, I really expected Allison Mack to leave a long time ago. No some may argue that other shows (like LOST) do the same thing; except shows like LOST do it on purpose, and they've managed to do in a far more creative fashion.

5 Reasons Why GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra Will Suck . I have to admit, the whole "let's dress all Joes the same" thing irks me. Of course, unlike movies like X-Men and Superman which have been around for decades and have tons of source material, Transformers and GI Joe started off as action figures and later became comics and cartoons. In other words, their purpose was to sell toys, not tell a worthwhile story. As a result, directors get to muck around with the story, regardless of which version the fans hold as gospel. Don't believe me? Let Hollywood try to make a Superman movie with no cape, or a Spider-Man movie where that deals with clones, and watch what happens.

Bush's final hurrah had it all: the arrogance; the weird mixture of acknowledgment and pandering (was I the only one who noticed that the first three people the President praised happened to be of color?); the back-patting over victories that only benefited a small ideological minority; and the alternate universe-projection of positivity.
