Some things just aren't easy to explain : An armed man gave no warning as he walked toward the front of Jesus’ Dwelling Place Church in Pennsylvania on Sunday, raised a gun toward the pastor’s face and pulled the trigger. What happened next may have been divine intervention, Pastor Glenn Germany said. “I’m thankful to God that I’m still here, because he definitely pulled the trigger,” Germany told CNN affiliate WTAE. The gunman “attempted to shoot, but the firearm failed to discharge,” Pennsylvania State Police said in a statement. The incident in North Braddock was captured on the church’s livestreamed video. Immediately after the gunman pulled the trigger, a church member tackled the suspect to the ground. State police identified the suspect as 26-year-old Bernard Junior Polite. Nevertheless : More than a dozen alleged abuse victims have been interviewed this year as part of the probe that’s exploring among other charges whether predator priests can be prosecuted under the Mann Act, a more than century-old, anti-sex trafficking law that prohibits taking anyone across state lines for illicit sex. Some of the New Orleans cases under review allege abuse by clergy during trips to Mississippi camps or amusement parks in Texas and Florida. Robert rosseau, 37, was arrested Monday by San Antonio cops and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child. Rosseau, pictured in the mug shot at right, taught "Science, Keyboarding and Bible" at the Christian Academy of San Antonio, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

The District government has filed a lawsuit alleging that five companies defrauded at least 30 Washington area congregations of hundreds of thousands of dollars through a computer equipment scam that has spread to at least 20 states. D.C. Attorney General Peter Nickles, in a 16-page affidavit, alleges that agents for the companies offered the churches free computer kiosks to enhance their outreach. What the churches actually received was inexpensive computer equipment that often did not work. The kiosks, located in church foyers, were to serve as electronic bulletin boards for announcements and community activities and would pay for themselves through paid advertisements. But the suit alleges that congregations unknowingly signed leases obligating them to pay tens of thousands of dollars for faulty equipment.
