The next time they get fired up to bring it on, cheerleaders may want to think about wear some kind or protective gear : Published as a series of four separate articles on cheerleading-related injuries in the November issue of the Journal of Athletic Training, the study focused on general cheerleading-related injuries, cheerleading stunt-related injuries, cheerleading fall-related injuries and surfaces used by cheerleaders. Data from the study showed that nearly all (96 percent) of the reported concussions and closed-head injuries were preceded by the cheerleader performing a stunt.

Robert rosseau, 37, was arrested Monday by San Antonio cops and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child. Rosseau, pictured in the mug shot at right, taught "Science, Keyboarding and Bible" at the Christian Academy of San Antonio, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

Hey, it involves jumping, running and the possibility of hitting you opponent with a foreign object. What's not to like ? It may seem like an odd fit, but it's a concept that's gaining steam across the country. Although males playing competitive volleyball isn't exactly a novel idea — it's a staple in the Olympics and college athletics — it's not a sport that has caught on at the high school level, at least in Colorado, until recently. The Colorado Boy's High School Volleyball Association was formed about 10 years ago to promote the sport in an effort to get sanctioned by the Colorado High School Activities Association. Locally, Niwot and Skyline are vital parts of the now 35-team league that spans the state. They are about four weeks into the 2009 season.
