Movie Flash (Ezra Miller) " is reportedly hiding from court papers related to grooming accusations leveled against them ." So just for those following the drama that is cinematic DC: Superman is reportedly gone, Cyborg has beef with one of the former directors, Aquaman's girlfriend may be re-casted, and now Flash is grooming instead of zooming. Marvel may be more formulaic, but they don't have to deal with this craziness.

"The problem the Big Two have isn't wanting to make money, it's how they're going about doing it. The current business model from Marvel and DC isn't working--the highest selling books are hitting maybe 200,000. Throw in Comixology and piracy and maybe 400,000 people read the MOST popular books. Superhero comics are overpriced, too often shallow, and cannot seem to break out of the current trend towards irrelevance. The entire business model needs an overhaul, but the caterwauling of the direct market prevents that. Superman, Spiderman, Batman? They don't need comics. They're cultural icons with multiple films, cartoons, video games, and a gigaton or two of merchandise. If the industry failed today, then Warner Bros. and Disney still wouldn't have any trouble using these characters to make billions. But independent writers, smaller publishers, and characters that don't have the mainstream recognition? They need a comics industry. Scott...

Props to Comics Alliance's Laura Hudson for this article on the difference between female characters in superhero comics who are sexually liberated versus those who serve as vessels for male sexual fantasies . Two things to add: I should point out that her examples of negative portrayals are DC Comics-heavy. While I was (and still am) more of a Marvel fan, I've gone through enough material from the "Distinguished Competition" to know that one groups make more genuine strides to write/draw female empowering stories than the other. If you ask any Marvel fan to name the top 15 or twenty most powerful characters, I'm pretty sure 5-7 of them will be female. Over at DC? After Wonder Woman and Power Girl. Also, Marvel's chock full of female characters who aren't legacy characters of female counterpart to male predecessors. One of the reason I stopped collecting comics regularly (around 2001) was because the "revamps/reboots" boiled down to basically ...

Are you ready: STOP MAKING ORIGIN MOVIES!!!! It's that simple; just start the superhero " in media res ," have him/her already in their established world with their supporting characters. Have at least two-to-three established adversaries, and use sequels as the origin story for new ones. Just don't tell us how the hero came to be; it's boring and becoming cliched. Besides, if people really want to know, just tell them to go buy the fucking comic book . Use the movies to market the interesting aspects of your characters, not to rehash/reboot/restart their origin. If there are people who don't know how Superman, Spider-Man and Batman after decades of exposure , they're either not allowed to be exposed to American culture or they can't read; either way they aren't part of you're target audience. Take a look a the movie versions of Harry Potter , Star Wars and Aliens/Predator : they all left gaps of storytelling that can be filled if curious vie...

First Off: WOW . Also: Interesting how everyone is in some para-military garb. Yeah, it's an alternate future, but still: Flash in armor? The since of "teamwork" from the good guys. Seeing how I didn't really get into the Justice League until the DCAU, I still find it odd that people who are so different (background, personalities, abilities) seem to work with together with little-to-no infighting. I mean the X-Men are made of of mutants and Cyclops and Wolverine are always at each others throats (sometimes literally). I'd really like to know how Lex Luther managed to convince Adam, Joker and the others to work for/with him. Angry Superman. It's funny that no matter the medium, an angry Superman will always use his heat vision. He doesn't rip off your limbs or freeze you to death or just toss you into the upper atmosphere; no, he melts you. Angry Superman, Part 2: Did he cry out, "Batman!" or was he saying, "Bad man!" to Lex like he was...

The great thing about the Internet is that you can find someone somewhere writing about the same thing you did, only in a more convincing (read: better) way. I previous mentioned that young Ms. Fox was not to blame for the horrid financial results regarding the Jonah Hex movie . Borys Kit from Heat Vision adds to this comment giving more solid examples as what needs to be done to make a proper comic book movie , namely: Acknowledge the comic's genre; Respect the comic's fanbase; Understand of your competition; Properly evaluate whether a movie is the best medium (as opposed to say, a TV miniseries).
