 The Democratic Party member who hopes to be the next Senator for Pennsylvania now says that he's always been for fracking .  Which makes him less aware than a comic book character:

  Without spoiling too much (besides the fact that some of your favorite MCU characters either die, are zombies, or both): Interesting that there was no main protagonist. A case could be made for either Peter or Banner, but neither were really "in charge" throughout the story. On that note, the episode highlights what happens in a world where key MCU leader types are either unavailable or just...gone. The motley crew left behind makes for cool interactions, but they're not exactly the odds on favorite for surviving.  It's cool that the zombie narrative isn't the sole story; we're seeing the events of "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Ant-Man and the Wasp" play out (somewhat) with a zombie curve-ball thrown in, so there are conflicts on top of conflicts. The characters who didn't show up in this story (hint: they're probably still in space) make one wonder what will happen when/if they show up... I was curious as to whether the zombies h...

I was hoping that this unfortunate pattern would be broken with "The Defenders," but alas, once again, an older black man died on a Netflix Marvel show. um... SPOILERS ! Of all the pros and cons of the team-up series and each character's respective shows (and personally, I still think the good outweighs the bad) this is the most annoying. To wit (most of these guys can be found under tvtrope's MCU:New York citizens entry): Daredevil : Ben Urich; choked to death by the Kingpin (with his bare freaking hands, no less). Urich and Karen Paige were both digging into Fisk's history for dirt, but Karen managed to slip past Fisk's radar.  Jessica Jones : Detective First Grade Oscar Clemons; shot in the head by Will Simpson. By the time this had happened, Simpson was hopped up on pseudo-super soldier performance enhancers, not to mention an obsession with keeping Jessica's step-sister/best friend safe. For those of you wanting to prepare for August 18th's premiere of "The Defenders" on Netflix, here's one humble blogger's suggested viewing (NOTE: I know some fans prefer particular shows over others for various reasons, but I'm recommending that people watch all four series): Daredevil Season One Jessica Jones Season One Daredevil Season Two (stop right after Episode 9, "Seven Minutes in Heaven") Luke Cage Season One (stop right after Episode 3, "Who's Gonna Take the Weight?") Real Quick Review: If you ever wondered what would happen if Star Wars, Star Trek and Harry Potter crossed over, it's Thor: The Dark World. In Context Review: It's probably in the top ten of the best movies based on Marvel characters, in the top five of MCU movies, and certainly an upgrade from Thor (with less Shakespearean flare). My Review: Most people expect movies that come out in the fall to be more dramatic (I will always say that this is why the first Hulk movie went over so badly; it was a drama being shown during popcorn-season) but this second installment of Thor's adventures could easily be seen as last-minute entry for summer 2013. Reason #1 for this is the main villain's motivation: Malekith, leader of the Dark Elves (Christopher Eccleston) apparently liked it when everything in the universe was literally dark and wants to use the super-McGuffin known as the Aether to put things back that way. Here's a hint: they could just as well appear in an X-Men movie, but for some reason they've always been more popular as Avengers in the comics .

"The problem the Big Two have isn't wanting to make money, it's how they're going about doing it. The current business model from Marvel and DC isn't working--the highest selling books are hitting maybe 200,000. Throw in Comixology and piracy and maybe 400,000 people read the MOST popular books. Superhero comics are overpriced, too often shallow, and cannot seem to break out of the current trend towards irrelevance. The entire business model needs an overhaul, but the caterwauling of the direct market prevents that. Superman, Spiderman, Batman? They don't need comics. They're cultural icons with multiple films, cartoons, video games, and a gigaton or two of merchandise. If the industry failed today, then Warner Bros. and Disney still wouldn't have any trouble using these characters to make billions. But independent writers, smaller publishers, and characters that don't have the mainstream recognition? They need a comics industry. Scott...

A little background : apparently the Phoenix (an almost all-powerful entity that possessed former X-Man Jean Grey years ago, made her crazy and had to be put down by Professor X's alien princess girlfriend) is back and looking for a new host: Jean Grey look-alike Hope Summers (adopted by Cable in raised in his there's-always-a-war-going-on future before being dropped of on the X-Men's doorstep as a teen). The X-Men (mostly Cyclops) saw this as a chance to get the whole Phoenix-makes-red-heads-crazy thing right for once; the Avengers (who are actually showcasing a roster of popular Marvel heroes for once) believe that this idea's doomed to fail. The X-Men, being contractually-obligated by the rules of a crossover, go ahead with their plan, basically calling the Avengers jerks for staying on the sidelines during all the previous X-Men crossovers only to step in now. In the end, the nonsensical fighting results in the Phoenix possessing five X-Men: Cyclops, scantly-clad ...

Seriously, this is just weird for a guy with WWII experience, let alone a nigh-unbreakable shield. I hoping it's a "flashback" issue .

Thanks to the success of Avengers, the Jade Giant may end up returning to the small screen .

The funny thing is most of these villains rarely do anything that's financially criminal; so where did they get the cash?
