I've always wondered about the psychological toll on actresses who play the "plain" friend or the "ugly girl", even though they are often quite attractive (when allowed to be). What does that do to one's self image?

hmmm...that even attractive women believe that they are physically flawed somehow? Methinks it's an issue of self-esteem.
