 For them, having the #1 song is a reason to make some cash in and escape the financial situation he's in. But they miss a critical element in Oliver Anthony's song: songs like his aren't an attempt to ironically commodify his criticisms and lift one individual up for the sake of keeping capitalism afloat. They are meant to, in part, highlight the inequalities and motivate people in similar situations to take action.
