Newt Gingrich is a politician who chooses his words very carefully . That "populist" in "Reagan populist conservative" is meant to attract independents. The "Reagan" is for old-school Republicans. And we all know what the "conservative" stands for (especially after his romp in South Carolina). We should also know to be very cautious when a Republican labels themselves a "[fill in the blank] conservative" like George W. Bush (" compassionate conservative ") did.
