Bari Weiss Is In Over Her Head

An opinion journalist/blogger pretending to be a investigative journalist-turned editor-in-chief is destined to end badly. Add in the propaganda element of Benjamin Netanyahu, the Zionist war against MAGA Republicans and the sudden rise of Erika Kirk, and well...

It's Not Like They Put a Gun To His Head

But nevertheless, all of Mike Bloomberg's poo-pooing to both Obama and Romney about not talking about gun safety/regulation takes a backseat to that sweet, sweet cash .

"You Didn't Get Mad When..."

Best take down of the "Tea Party Anger" I've read since they were "created."

Beware The Angry Fat White Guy

For some unknown reason, they seem to be getting a tad violent .

Cartoonist Ted Rall On Tiger Woods, His Apology and Monogamy

This is a very interesting take ; here's a sample: Nowhere in America lives a kid who looked up to Tiger because he thought he was faithful to his wife. Woods wasn't some right-wing hypocrite. He didn't preach. His church was the Chapel of Sports Excellence. Apologize? What for? I'm not even sure he owes his wife an apology. According to various reports (although I fathom not how said accounts were sourced), Woods' wife lost interest in sex after having kids. If she turned colder, oh well. Things happen. Tiger didn't have the right to demand that she put out. But he had every right—the duty, even, if there was to be any chance of his keeping his family intact from divorce—to have some fun on the side. If Mrs. Woods wanted it ten times a day, on the other hand, he owes her an apology. Her. Not us.

LaVar Arrington vs. Clinton Portis

Well, actually more like " Clinton Portis' perception of things versus LaVar Arrington's perception of things ," but the title I used is more eye-catching. Still, something worth reading/listening to.

"Self Made Man" Revisited

The Health Care version .

Quote Of The Day

Men, when a woman is working in a position where your attraction and interest in her is directly proportional to her income, understand that flirting is simply part of her job . When a Hooters Girl, a cocktail waitress, a club dancer, an exotic dancer, or an escort behaves as though she is interested in you, more often than not it is because she knows that that feigned interest will result in a higher tip and return business. Don't take it to heart, especially when she refuses to give you her contact information or nail down a time to meet up outside of her workplace. via the Hooter Girl (this is something I tell my buddies all the time).

Hell, Even Superman and Batman Fought Each Other Once

Apparently, there is a fight of sorts amongst Daily Kos diarists about Firedoglake's Jane Hamsher. As usual, the headliners have stayed above the fray (they typically do when these periodical "wars" pop up). But if history is any indicator, someone like Hunter will come down from the mountain* and calm things down. While I do fine some of Hamsher's actions and words unfortunate, I'm not ready to call the woman the second coming of the Puma Movement just yet. What surprises me about this whole health care debate is the misconception progressives had about how much representation they actually have in Congress. As I said over in Sadly, No!: As long as Congressional Democrats fear the opposition's base more than their own, expect more "politics" of this nature. Right now, the Democrats in office do not fear liberals/progressives. The response to this should not be "a pox on both your houses." When things aren't going your way, you keep ...

News Vs. Spin

News : The Federal Communication Commission's five commissioners all agreed they favor an "open" Internet in supporting a net neutrality rule-making process Thursday, but hints emerged immediately that they will soon be agreeing to disagree on how and to what degree the Internet should be free and open or regulated. While the five commissioners all voted in favor of the rule-making process with the three Democrats led by Chairman Julius Genachowski taking a more open approach to the Internet, the two Republican commissioners also supported the rule process, but questioned some "facts". The rule-making process opens up a vehicle for comments on net neutrality that will close on January 14. Reply comments will be accepted until March 14. Spin ( via Media Matters ): Drudge compares FCC chairman to Julius Caesar, says he "wants to 'regulate' internet"

Like a Fox

Image
By attacking FoxNews (saying it wasn't a real news organization ) the White House may have made a very potent power move. No, not in "distracting from issue X," as some have said. But sending FoxNews into a frenzy by making them try to legitimize themselves . The past few days have basically been a "Why is Obama picking on us?" whine-o-rama. Instead of taking the high road and ignoring those comments, they've embraced them . Now one would think if they were a true independent-minded news organization and not the media component to the GOP machine, they would be able to take this in stride, but they can't . They've made themselves the news story , and that's not good. And just like the liar who gets called out in public for lying, Fox is now trying to play the " I'm rubber and you're glue " game.

When You Scare The Establishment...

...they call you names . Make no mistake: the mainstream media hates the Internet. They hate the way that anyone can have a voice that can't be filtered through their standards. They hate to be challenged by people with journalism degrees, military experience, a medical background or who've traveled around the world. They hate that the casual observer may have more common sense than them. They hate that entertainers, politicians and athletes are communicating with us directly and not through them like they used to. They want to keep in power; they want to continue to be the medium. And everytime one of us reminds them that we also have a voice, they get upset. And they call us names.

Sports Guy Makes A Case For Newspapers

It's crazy how Bill Simmons, a guy who writes about sports for a living, can be so on point about non-sport issues. At least much more so than other guys. Anyway, while talking about Kevin Garnett's injury, he gets into the newspaper issue : There's a hidden sub-story lurking here: It involves the fall of newspapers, lack of access and the future of reporting, not just with sports but with everything. I grew up reading Bob Ryan, who covered the Celtics for the Boston Globe and remains the best basketball writer alive to this day. Back in the 1970s and early '80s, he was overqualified to cover the team. In 1980, he would have sniffed out the B.S. signs of this KG story, kept pursuing it, kept writing about it, kept working connections and eventually broken it. True, today's reporters don't get the same access Ryan had, but let's face it: If 1980 Bob Ryan was covering the Celtics right now, ESPN or someone else would lure him away. And that goes for the editor...

Quote Of The Day

OK, I can understand that Michael McDonald doesn’t want to be stuck on Mad TV the rest of his career, playing that obnoxious kid, but still, you’d think that he could come up with a better replacement shtick than–wait, what? -- The Goddamn Batman Still Misses Phil Lamarr As "Funky Walker Dirty Talker ," making a very astute (and humorous) observation about the latest scalp on Barney Frank's Wall of Conservatives Who've Never Been In a Real Debate .

Would It Be, Say, Very Stupid to Sue Someone Who Gave You A Whole Lot Of Money?

" Yes ," you say? Ok; just checking.

Just For Clarification

The reason I don't blog about politics (or the ramifications of the evil/dumb people in politcs, or the fallout of terrible political move/initiatives) all of the time is because doing so would turn me into this guy... ...and nobody wants to see that. I am losing weight, though (thankyouverymuch).

Oh The Awesome

If blogging was Hip-Hop, Jurassicpork would be GZA/Genius. Just sayin'.

On Barack Obama and Rick Warren

I'll just say these points and leave it be: Read Obama's books and his website for his views on gay rights. It's there; it been there . To act like this is some sudden shift plays into the hands of people who said, "We don't know anything about him! He can't be trusted!" Obama's philosophy on this is simply, " You can disagree without being disagreeable ." To me, that's light years from, "You're either with us or against us." I find it interesting that I've seen this negative reaction from two-thirds of JP's Triumvirate , especially since one of them had (not too long ago) implied that people make shit up during campaigns ; you know, in order to win them. Question: who really thinks that Warren's sermon/speech will actually make pro-gay rights people say, "Hey, I was all for my friend/relative/neighbor getting married and having health benefits, but now, they can burn in Hell?" Did Obama's election ...
