Whether it's fear from the Democrats or outright racism from the Republicans , it's safe to say that Mamdani's win is resonating. Furthermore, this is a test for the "Any Blue Will Do/Vote Blue No Matter Who" crowd, who mostly use that mantra for when conservatives/ex-Republicans ran and/or won as Democrats. With the memory of kicking out David Hogg for the crime of trying to bring fresh blood into a corrupt, decrepit organization as well as the submissive posturing to Zionism still fresh in voter's memories, can the Democrats really afford to kneecap Mamdani's chances for victory just so they can fret about not having the "fighters" they need to challenge a Trump-emboldened Republican Party?

Summary: Eric Adams has a multitude of legal and political problems that have ended any political ambitions he may have had. Donald Trump may have kept him from going to jail, but in seeking a lifeline from a president hated by most New Yorkers, he has sealed his fate and will go down in history as the anti-Black, Black mayor. NY Mayor Eric Adams Fails the "Obama Test" for Black Politicians

Margret Kimberley pretty much sums it up : New York City's mayor isn't just a self-interested member of the Black political class. He is also singularly incompetent and lacking in the most basic political skills. After a Black man was publicly murdered on the subway, Adams saw no need to go through the motions of expressing appropriate concern. New Yorkers are protesting but the clueless mayor insists that he can only mouth tin eared platitudes that please his most racist constituents. Obama had an uncanny ability to seem concerned about issues while doing next-to-nothing about addressing them. This ability helped protect him in the black community (black Democrats in particular). Not every black politicians has this gift.

Keep in mind: a Police Union Leader said " blood in the streets " -the phrase that was potentially used against Tom Hayden in the movie The Trial of the Chicago 7 ( no, really )- to describe the election of a "progressive" candidate who said that he wants “ a city that’s safer for everyone by investing in what actually works to prevent crime. And that means youth employment, mental health centers, ensuring that law enforcement has the resources to solve and prevent crimes .” In other words: if mayors and governors don't allow police to do as they want, they will just allow crime to happen and people to suffer.

New York's former cop and newly-elected mayor has fired 1,400 government workers and is proposing a budget aimed at cutting education funding . Quick Thoughts: 914 of the workers Eric fired were education workers; he seems to have some issue with education. As we know, poverty is a heavy contributor to crime in the US . Less education typically contributes to poverty. It appears that Adams is, by cutting education funding, creating an environment where more police will be necessary in the near future. Keep in mind that one of the safest states in America is also calling for more police . Interesting that "defund the police" is a nonstarter for some because not only is the demand also the slogan, but because the demand is seem as "too harsh," but outside of educators there is no pushback to "defund education." For what it's worth, here's the NYC Department of Education page on their funding .

So after winning the Democratic Primary for mayor of Buffalo New York, DSA-backed India Walton is working on her platform and focusing on the issues facing the city . She can do this because she's currently the only name on the general election ballot, making Democratic Primary the "real race." Sadly for her (and Buffalo) incumbent Democrat and current mayor Byron Brown can't accept losing, and has decided to create his own party fight to get his name on the ballot, despite the deadline being May 25th (of 2021) . I wouldn't put it past some loyalist with connections helping Brown out, but keep in mind that this guy was so serious about keeping his job he announced his reelection bid on Facebook, refused to debate, campaigned mainly through lawn signs , and got less half the signatures needed and spent about 20% less money than he did for his 2017 bid . Which is to say that Brown thought that this would be a cakewalk until he lost. People can still write him in...

Haroon Saleem of Granite Falls, Washington won the election for the city's mayor. And he's...*gasp*...MUSLIM! But for some reason the townsfolk don't seem to be too bothered . Saleem said he was nervous about being accepted, and hired a white assistant manager to ease local concerns when he opened his bar in 2000. "I was kind of scared, you know," he says. But he was embraced virtually from the start. "That tells you how good and great of a community Granite Falls is," he says with a slight accent. "They didn't care ... I am who I am, and people love me for that, and I just love people. People know that I am smart, I am a businessman. In the big scheme of things, all these qualities have made me, got me to where I am today." So if a small town in America can ( for the most part ) embrace someone who's of a different religion, why can't the party who claims to speak for small town A...
