Bernie Sanders Sent Me An Email Asking Me To Give Cash To Democrats

Considering the guy's and Independent (a real one, as opposed to Joe Lieberman, who became one after being kicked out of his Democratic primary a few years back) that's kind of a big deal.

Here's what he had to say:

Why is the longest-serving Independent in congressional history writing to you on behalf of Democrats? Like you, I'm angry. I'm frustrated. And I want action. I've had my differences with both sides of the aisle, but I have never seen tactics as dangerous as the ones Republicans are using.

Republicans have said "No" to the very changes Americans elected President Obama to make. No to health care reform. Jobs. Clean energy. Regulations so big banks can't wreck our economy and get rich in the process.

They're saying "No" for one explicit reason - to make President Obama fail.

That's why I'm asking you to support the DSCC. The DSCC has the skills and experience to combat the Republican political machine and right-wing lies. If you give today, your gift will be matched, doubling your impact. Even $5 today will make a big difference in November!

He makes a good point, and the message reads like something he would say (you can always catch him on Fridays on the Thom Hartmann Program for proof). That being said, the fact that the Democrats had to go to their left-leaning Independent colleague says a lot. One, the Democrats rarely go left unless they need the votes/money; as I've said before they fear their opponent's base more than their own. Two, this is still relatively early in the 2010 mid-terms to be going to the well; I can see tapping Sanders help in August, but now?
