Classic George W. Bush
He's the only person who can take a laundry list of blunders and find the "bright side:"
I've been -- since I've been your President, I want to remind you we have been through a recession, we have been through a terrorist attack, we have been at war, we have had corporate scandals, we have had major natural disasters, and yet this economy always recovers. We're a resilient economy because we've got good, capable, smart, hardworking people in America. And I know it's tough times, and I know you're having to pay more at the fuel pump than you want, but this economy is going to come on. I'm confident it will. And I want to thank the folks at World Wide for being a part of the leading edge of optimism here in America; a leading edge in making sure that people can find good, hard -- paying jobs.
My irony-meter is off the charts.
- His plan to use tax cuts during the recession didn't work. The fact that we're in another recession is proof of that.
- His lazy approach toward governance and desire to be "different" than Bill Clinton and his own father played heavily in the success of said terrorist attack.
- He lied to Congress, the American People and the world in order to start a war.
- One of his supposed selling points was that his business background would at least minimize such corporate scandals.
- While people were drowning due tho Hurricane Katrina, he was playing the guitar, sharing cake with John McCain, and treating the situation like it was just a flooded basement and not an event of near-biblical proportions. Like the Minnesota bridge collapse, he and his posse decided to play politics when it became clear that people were looking to the federal government to help.
- The reason we are paying more at the pump is because of the war (see #s 2 & 3), as well as his laissez-faire attitude to regulation (see #4).
Then again, his wife is no better.
