Jerome Corsi, We Hardly Know Ye
Four years ago, maybe somebody like Corsi would have been able to get away with a smear book (in fact, it was Corsi and his Swift Boat buddies who attacked John Kerry). But things have thankfully changed:
- Eric Boehlert on Corsi's inability to let go of past tactics and his sensitivity to actual vetting.
- Boston Globe has story that shows why Corsi should not be trusted, and it has nothing to do with Barack Obama.
These are just two examples of what the press needs to do when someone comes out with a book that's determined to tear an individual down: vet them.
After all, it's that what FoxNews wanted for Scott McClellan when he wrote his book (which, compared to Corsi's was far from being a smear book)?
There's a saying, "Don't shoot the messenger." But I strongly believe that the "messenger" in that quote was traditionally thought to be neutral and/or impartial. Corsi is neither.
