"Jon Stewart Is Just a Comedian; Don't Listen to Him..."
So sayeth NBC Universal Chief Executive Jeff Zucker.
"Just because someone who mocks authority says something doesn't make it so," Zucker said, describing the comedian's comments as "completely out of line."
The reason Stewart was mocking authority was because your dumb-ass business network didn't challenge authority. In fact, it became the mouthpiece of the very institution you claim to be "observing."
In fact, instead of schmoozing with the likes of CNBC and Fox Business News, Wall Street would be better off creating their own network (they haven't done that yet, right?). Than at least no one can dispute who they're rooting for. And we also won't get another round of "It Ain't My Fault: Rich People Edition."
I think we all can learn something from this ordeal; I know I have:
- Zucker doesn't know the difference between, "This is all your fault!" and "Because of the role you play, your actions/inactions make you complicit;" and
- This response is just one more example that our "news" is not meant to inform us as much as entertain us.
