LOST: Locked, Stocked and Barreled
If I was worried that these flash-sideways were just another boring way to do character development while the fun stuff happens on the island, last night's episode proved me wrong. In the X-world, Locke tries to adjust to life in a wheelchair. On the Island, Smokey/Evil Locke tries to recruit people for his cause.
As usual with Locke-centric episodes, you really don't get anything from anyone else, so if you aren't/weren't a Locke fan you were out of luck. For Locke's fans, it's worth noting that in the X-world he has a pretty good life (and attitude), despite being in a wheelchair.
DISCOVERIES
- Evil Locke can't change into anything/anyone else (except into his Smokey form, apparently).
- Hugo owned a Temp Agency (if this was mentioned in previous seasons, I missed it).
- Sawyer is part of Jacob's secret (and male-dominated) list that was kept in Jacob's cave.
- (If you believe Evil Locke) Jacob had planned to use some of the Flight 815 survivors as candidates for the new guardian of the Island.
- There's things on The Island (like the scary little blond kid) that even Smokey/Evil Locke doesn't understand.
- If X-Locke lost his ability to walk because of his father, he's certainly not holding a grudge.
- Assuming the X-World represents the Island being relatively uninhabitable from the events of last season's finale (the 70's on), it's possible that X-Ben left while he was still young and managed to lead a somewhat normal life.
- Regardless of the reality, Randy Nations is still a prick.
- Why can't Evil Locke change anymore?
- Why are most of Jacob's candidates male?
- Why didn't X-Locke want his old job back? And more to the point, why didn't he ask Hurley to fire Randy?
- What happened to X-Locke that he's finally with Helen, and is on good terms with his father?
- Why does Sawyer trust Evil Locke more than everybody else at the Temple?
