What a difference an election makes; or more to the point: what a difference a left-leaning Democratic President makes. President Barack Obama means the GOP has (temporarily, I'm sure) retired the old "Up or Down Vote" mantra in order to resurrect the old "Activist Judges" mantra. In short: when a Republican President selects a Supreme Court nominee, s/he should be approved with little-to-no fanfare or objection; but when a Democratic President does the same, their choice must be filtered less the Supreme Court becomes considerably unbalanced.
Of course this blantant 180 isn't surprising, whether you're talking about conservative Republicans or the so-called-Liberal Media. For the GOP, it's a way to prove that they're still relevant. For the media, it's a story they can latch onto and drain the life out of until the next mundane, typical political event arrives to be blown out of proportion.
Nevertheless, it's amusing to see the pundits "give advice" on who Obama should pick as if he won the 2008 election by only three votes.
