America's 2022 Mid-Term-Palooza
So who won and who lost? Well real quick:
Winners: The Military-Industrial Complex, Russia-Gate, Political Duopolies. It appears that funding for the proxy war between Ukraine and Russia will continue, despite being an anchor. Fears of Russian interference reared it's ugly head again. Third parties were practically drowned out because Democrats propped up Trump-friendly GOP candidates to the point where they could scare and shame voters from considering alternatives.
Losers: The Working Class, Anti-War Activists, Third and Independent Political Parties. Whether Democrat or Republican, the issues impacting those who live paycheck-to-paycheck will continue to be ignored or exploited. Both parties also favor war, whether it be with Russia, China or Iran. And because smaller parties either aren't organized, aren't disciplined, or have too big an ego to collaborate on shared issues, the Big Two can use their money, power and media influence to make third and independent parties irrelevant.
Outside of that, there are some interesting developments/revelations:
- John Fetterman's campaign. He refused to apologize for the time he pulled a shotgun out on a black jogger, compromised on every progressive issue he originally ran on, and barely won against someone who in any sane world would never have won a primary.
- Governors: All the focus in the mainstream media was on the House and Senate, with very little focus on governorships (outside of Florida, but that's because the consensus is that DeSantis plans to run for president). Well, Maryland and Massachusetts were won by Democrats, despite all the fretting over a GOP wave. Of course, it's usually the GOP that's talking about "states rights" and handling things on a state level. Oh and speaking of GOP as well as political dynasties: Sarah Huckabee won governor of Arkansas (like her father before her).
In closing: when the dust settles the new US Congress has about six months to do anything of substance before some natural disaster, cultural issue, political move or foreign affair snatches everyone's attention just long enough to get them ready for the propaganda-fest that will be the 2024 elections.
