How The West Has Failed The Public Regarding Palestine.
Now that a year has passed since Hamas attacked Israel for hostages to, in part, negotiate the release of Palestinian hostages and the Israeli government responded by killing Hamas, Palestinians, and even potential Israeli hostages, we can look at ways the West has, at best, downplayed the actions of the Israeli government while amplifying the actions of Hamas (aka Palestinians), Hezbollah (aka, Lebanon), the Houthis (aka Yemen), and Iran to fit a simplistic "Good Guys vs Bad Guys" dynamic.
- "Success" in war/battle is determined by civilian casualties/destruction of non-military property: Iran's recent (retaliatory) strike on Israeli military targets was called ineffective by many outlets. Meanwhile, Israeli victory has been defined by death and destruction ("[the IDF has] reduced large swaths of Gaza to rubble, made nearly two million Gazans internal refugees, and killed more than 40,000 Palestinians - about a third of them Hamas militants, according to official Israeli assessments.").
- Iran has been "weeks" and "months" from having nuclear weapons since 1992: This video from Jimmy Dore sums things up...
- "Anti-Semitic" and "Anti-Israel" is now the same thing; making criticism of Israel condemnable: In an attempt (in part) to combat pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses, the US Congress voted on legislation stating that the "targeting of the State of Israel, conceived as a Jewish collectivity" was anti-Semitic. And the media is more than happy to go along with the narrative...
- The portrayal of Arabs/Arab Nations as backward: The last 3-4 minutes of this interview is a good example; apparently no one believed Prof. Seyed Mohammad Marandi when he went on television years ago to talk about Iranian uranium enrichment...
- As a Colonial State, Israel must get rid of the indigenous population to survive. Like The United States, Canada, South Africa (in attempt, anyway) and Australia before it, for the colonizers to rule freely, the original inhabitants must either be eradicated or reduced to a negligible population...
- Israel is the only country in the Middle East who has the right to defend itself: Sadly, no...
