No; Just No.
"No" to AOC.
"No" to Kamala Harris.
"No" to Gavin Newsom.
"No" to Pete Buttigieg.
"No" to any Democrat who is not for the following at least:
- Universal Healthcare (as in, declare a national health emergency and give every American Medicare);
- End the occupation and genocide in Gaza (they know exactly which people and country to contact);
- End ICE (as in, ICE is no more; no "reforms");
- Raise taxes on the wealthiest 3% of Americans;
- Tie the Minimum Wage to Wall Street (If Wall Street makes $$$, than MW earners make more $$$);
- Cut the military budget by at least 60%.
- End all tariffs and sanctions.
If they cannot agree to all of the above, they should not even be considered a candidate for president. And while we're talking about asks, here's a few more:
- Eliminate the AUMF and give Congress back the power to declare war;
- Bring back the draft;
- Invite DC and Puerto Rico to become states, and give Hawaii a chance to continue or decline statehood;
- Reduce the role/authority of the police (there are plenty of ways to do this);
- Make Election Day a Federal Holiday.
Even if any of them (or someone else) did all this? My vote still wouldn't be guaranteed. Why? Because:
- Their party leaders would undermine them;
- Their donors would prevent them from implementing any of these policies;
- They have never pushed for these policies when they had power, and when out of power have at best given them lip service (and at worst either never mentioned it or have been against it).
So just making this official, because regardless of how the midterms work out, the Vote Blue No Matter Who Crowd* will be in rare form.
* Does not apply when candidates are democratic socialists, actual socialists, communists, or independent/third party candidate who are running as Democrats because their state/city/area does not allow anyone who isn't a Democrat or Republican to run (see: Bernie Sanders, Zohran Mamdani, etc.).
PS: Mr Talarico, despite his impressive interview, is not exempted from this (Principles are principles).
