LOST: Where The Judge Is A Shape-Shifting Cloud of Black Smoke
The Island has one hell of a legal system, and you can't say Ben wasn't properly judged.
Observations
Observations
- We see that Ben has a special place in his heart for children; kinda like Jason did before they re-booted the "Friday the 13th" Franchise.
- We also see something that's common for governments where there's no term limits: rampant abuse of power. Both Widmore and Ben eventually used their leadership for selfish means.
- Funny how both Ceasar and Ilana decided that they would be in charge, and how one of them ended up going against two characters famous for fighting over leadership for the Island.
- Ben didn't seem too pissed at Sun for knocking him out. Maybe it has something to do with her deciding not to shoot him.
Theories
- I don't think Ben or Locke care as much about getting the other Losties back from That 70's Show as Sun does.
- After watching the Smoke Monster for the past five seasons, it seems to have more in common with BTVS' "The First" than any other fictional monster-thing. But that would imply that Smokey is evil; but going by it's sometimes erratic behavior I don't buy that.
- I think as much as Ben was lying to...well, everyone in this episode, he was also lying to himself. Lying about saying that killing Penny would balance out Alex's death. Lying about the powers of the Island. Lying about how to get in touch with the Monster. And most likely: lying to the Monster about not him not making any attempt to harm/kill Locke (again).
- I think Ilana is either part of the current Dharma Initiative or Widmore's Second Wave. The whole code thing seemed very familiar.
- I think the reason behind Widmore's challenge to Ben (kill Danielle) is similar to Ben's challenge to Locke (kill Anthony Cooper): to test the newcomer (who's a threat to leadership) and possibly discredit him before the Others.
Questions
- Widmore became corrupt; Ben became corrupt. Why hasn't Richard Alpert?
- Why did Christian tell Sun and Frank to wait for John?
- Where (and when) is Claire?
- ...and Sayid, for that matter?
- What made Penny and Widmore so distant from each other (besides Desmond)?
- Why did Richard allow Widmore to leave the Island so often?
- We have Ben and Ethan as DI survivors who joined the Others; did anyone else survive?
- Why didn't the Monster arrive at Ben's house when he summoned it?
