On Abortion
When The McCain Campaign (and FoxNews) began with its "Barack Obama is so pro-abortion, he wanted to kill infants!" smear, I knew for sure that John McCain doesn't care what he has to say, as long as it gets him votes.
As far as their attack, it's just the same old "We'll ban abortion" yelping we've heard since Reagan acted his way into office.
But consider this: the GOP has been running the White House for 20 of the last 28 years, and has ran the United States government for at least six of the last eight years and they've done nothing, NOTHING to ban abortion.
The GOP, as far as the Executive and Legislative Branches go, will never ban abortion. And the "why" is the same reason that President Bush hasn't caught bin Laden: it takes a red meat issue off of the table. For the GOP, accomplishment makes their voters lazy. The closest thing their base can hope for is that the Bushes and McCains get enough right-wing judges to do the dirty work for them. And if an ultra-conservative Supreme Court bent on overturning Roe v. Wade isn't a concern for you, then you probably already know who you're voting for.
