So Much For the End of the World
The Dow went up 485 today on just the belief, the belief that Congress will do something. In other words: 293 more points and Monday never happened.
So why can't Congress just talk happy talk until they get a reasonable bill on the floor? It's becoming obvious now that the Giant Casino we call Wall Street is just basing things on expectations and speculation, as opposed to actual action.
Or maybe a better analogy is this: Wall Street is like a house full of crack addicts. When they thought that they weren't going to get their fix, they panicked. Now that they think they'll get a hit, they're swooning a bit.
